Safety

At Pryme Construction, we have built our reputation on a foundation of core values that include safety, quality, and production. Our safety program has been developed with one goal in mind: to provide a safe working environment for everyone involved in any construction project. It is our highest priority to return all our people safely to their families after each day.

Our Safety Management team has years of experience and is committed to supporting our superintendents in consistently implementing our strong safety program. Through an intensive orientation and training process that includes exams as well as drug and alcohol testing and classes, our people learn the importance of safety and how seriously we take it from day one.

Safety is a way of life at Pryme Construction. We have exceeded the requirements of the Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) and apply industrial safety standards—the highest safety standards in construction—on all projects.

Pryme Safety Policy

It is Pryme Construction’s policy to provide a safe workplace environment for our employees and subcontractors. The Health, Safety and Environment Management Programs are designed with this goal in mind and are the shared responsibility of every employee and subcontractor.

Working together, we are able to attain excellence in all aspects of our operation and maintain a safety record that will be the envy of the industry.

At Pryme Construction, we believe an effective Health, Safety and Environment Management Program is the cornerstone of good operating practice. It is our policy to:

  • Provide training as required.
  • Conduct hazard assessments.
  • Use CSA approved personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Properly maintain tools, equipment and facilities.
  • Conduct informal and formal inspections to find and correct any unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Investigate all incidents and near misses in an effort to prevent recurrence.

Management is committed to working in a spirit of consultation and cooperation with all employees by recognizing the Rights of Workers through hazard communication, empowering workers to stop and report unsafe work, encouraging participation in the safety program, and preventing discrimination at all worksites. Supervisors must promote and demonstrate safe work practices to ensure subcontractors and employees understand their responsibility to work safely. Supervisors, subcontractors and employees are accountable for their actions, lack of actions and decisions. Failure to comply with safety policies, practices and procedures will be cause for disciplinary action that may include suspension, dismissal or cancellation of your contract if warranted. Remember, safety is as important as production, quality and cost control. If you have any safety-related questions or are unsure of how to complete an assigned task, ask your Supervisor.

Pryme Construction policies, practices and procedures are in compliance with or exceed current Occupational Health and Safety legislation requirements for the area of operation. Supervisors, employees and subcontractors must ensure they operate within the rules and regulations governing their specific place of operation.

Remember, government regulations are law. If the company, its employees or subcontractors fail to comply with the legislation, the officers of the company and/or subcontractors, Supervisors or employees will be held accountable and may be prosecuted. Thus, maintaining a safe work site is everyone’s responsibility and is in your best interest. Observe the law and work safely. Everyone is counting on you.
